KENNEDYS

Reminisce about the family that left an indelible mark on the  lives of all Americans. Of the beloved family, six were laid to rest in Arlington, including President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Robert Francis Kennedy, two infant Kennedy children and Edward (Ted) Kennedy.

TOMB OF THE UNKNOWN

Watch the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Here Unknown Soldiers from WWI, WWII and Korea are buried in front of the Memorial Amphitheater. The Unknown Soldier from Vietnam was exhumed and reburied at his home in Saint Louis, Missouri after his remains were identified in 1998 through DNA testing.

LEE MANSION

Come see the mansion that was constructed by the first president's adopted grandson, George Washington Parke Custis. George’s only child, Mary Anna Randolph Custis, married her childhood friend, Robert E. Lee. During the civil war the federal government confiscated the property when Mrs. Lee failed to pay her taxes.

PIERRE CHARLES L'ENFANT

Visit the man who designed the original layout of the nation's capital who was laid to rest overlooking the glorious city that he designed. L'Enfant's layout is forever engraved on the top of his table-like tomb on the hilltop overlooking Washington.

CHALLENGER & COLUMBIA

Pay your respects to the fourteen astronauts who lost their lives on NASA's Challenger and Columbia shuttles, which broke up during launch and reentry respectively.

MAST OF THE USS MAINE

Behold the mast of the battleship USS Maine, which sank in Havana harbor on February 15, 1898. The sinking eventually led to the Spanish-American War. The cause of the explosion is still a point of contention of whether the ship sank due to a Spanish mine or an internal mechanical malfunction.
